Message: | 11, 4- Butyrolactone, γ -Butyroladone, GBL, BLO,
CAS number: 96-48-0
EINECS number: 202-509-5
Formula: C4H6O2
M. W.: 86.09
Packing: In 200KGS net iron drum
Character: Colorless and transparent oily liquid with odor similar to acetone
Usage :GBL is used to produce the related GHB, but is also consumed on its own. GBL can be synthesized from gamma-hydroxybutyric acid (GHB) by removal of water or by distillation from such a mixture.
Description :
Gamma-Butyrolactone (GBL) has widespread industrial use. It is a common solvent and reagent in chemistry and is used as an aroma compound, as a stain remover, as a superglue remover, as a paint stripper, and as a solvent in some wet aluminium electrolytic capacitors.
Gamma-hydroxybutyrate (GHB) is a naturally occurring fatty acid found throughout the human body. It has a structure similar to the neurotransmitter gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA). It readily crosses the blood-brain barrier with rapid onset of anxiolytic, sedative and euphoric effects. Its neurodepressant effect may be mediated by a specific GHB receptor, binding to GABA receptors, modulation of GABA levels, or interactions with other neurotransmitters. Its effects are similar to benzodiazepines, baclofen and alcohol.
